Rotate the 6 and superset the 2 to create 7^2 = 49 - How deep?
The hole is currently 3′6″ deep. The key to this is to read carefully the clue where the laborer says “I am going twice as deep”. Meaning the final depth of the hole will be 3x (x + 2x) as deep as it currently is, not twice as deep.

- Since it is a cube, all diagonal lines are equal lengths
- The resulting triangle is an equilateral triangle whose 3 angles are each 60°

17 minutes. How?- Runners A & B cross together (2 minutes)
- Runner A returns with flashlight (1 minute)
- Runners C & D cross together (10 minutes)
- Runner B returns with flashlight (2 minutes)
- Runners A & B cross together again (2 minutes)
